Mark Lathrum

 

Mark was born Sept. 20, 1960 in Des Moines, Iowa to Donald and Vergene (Kongable) Lathrum. They moved to Olathe, Kan. where he graduated from high school in 1978. 

 

Mark married Robin Somerhiser Graves on July 21, 1990 in Olathe.  They have lived in rural Gardner for 21 years.

 

He was a letter carrier for the U.S. Postal Service for 26 years. He was a Union Steward for NALC #5521 in Shawnee Mission. Mark was the chairman for the McCamish Township Zoning Board and a former Republican Precinct Committeeman. He was a member of Fellowship Bible Church and taught Sunday school for young children.

 

Mark enjoyed his old pickup trucks, especially his 1950’s Fords. Mark loved his family, especially his children and grandchildren, and his four legged children, Effie and Otis, very much.  He will be dearly missed.

 

He was preceded in death by his grandchild Chloe Lynn Lathrum. 

 

Mark is survived by his wife Robin, of the home; parents, Donald and Vergene Lathrum, Gardner; children, Brandi Renollet and Alex of Prosser, Wash. and Shea Lathrum of Branson, Mo.; grandchildren Zachary, Drew, Tyler, and Dacey; great granddaughter Nyla; sister Cheryl Olmsted and Jeff of Perryville, Ark.; brother Eric Lathrum and Jenifer of Gardner; three nephews, a niece and one great niece.

 

Funeral Services will be 1 p.m., Sept. 1, 2012 at Fellowship Bible Church, 16900 Waverly Rd., Gardner, KS with burial at Gardner Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., Aug. 31, 2012 also at the church. Arrangements:  Bruce Funeral Home, Gardner, KS, (913) 856-7111.  Memorial Contributions may be given to Caringbridge.org or Fellowship Bible Church.
