Marguerite Frances Marriott

Marguerite Frances Marriott, 91, of Gardner, KS, passed away Mar. 25, 2011, at Royal Terrace Nursing Center, Olathe, KS.
Marguerite was born Aug. 26, 1919 in Kansas City, KS to Charles “Karl” and Frances (Marlowitch) Toplikar. They moved to the family farm north of Gardner Lake in 1932. Marguerite married George Andrew Marriott, II on June 21, 1947 in Kansas City, KS. They moved to Gardner in 1950. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and the Altar Society. She provided daycare for children, including her grandchildren, in her home for more than 45 years, treating them all as her own. She was a caregiver her whole life, caring for her mother and brother Frank when they became ill. Marguerite was a landscape artist. She was a wonderful cook, known for her fried chicken, baked breads and povitica. She was a member of the Docey Dandies and the American Legion Auxiliary #19.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband George on March 28, 1969, and brothers Carl, Frank, Leo, Edward and Ernest Toplikar. Marguerite is survived by her children Michael Marriott and Lori, George Andrew Marriott, III and wife Vanessa, and Irene Lehman and husband Gene, all of Gardner; brother Bob Toplikar and wife Della of Gardner; sister Gertrude
Bukovec of Willard,WI; and four grandchildren.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 am, Tuesday, Mar. 29, 2011, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 555 W Main, Gardner, KS. Burial will follow at Saint Columbia Catholic Cemetery, Gardner. Visitation will begin at 10:00 am before the service. A Rosary will be said 5:00 pm Monday, Mar. 28, 2011 at Bruce Funeral Home, Gardner, 913-856-7111.
