Lola “Marcene” Longanecker

Lola “Marcene” Longanecker, 91, of Edgerton, Kan. passed away July 20, 2014 at Wellsville Retirement Center.

Funeral service will be held at 10 a.m., July 24, 2014 at Bruce Funeral Home, Gardner, KS (913)856-7111. Burial follows at Memorial Park Cemetery, Lawrence, Kan. Visitation will be held 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., July 23, 2014 at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Vitas Hospice, 13316 W. 98th St., Lenexa, KS 66215. Marcene was born June 13, 1923 to August Lewis and Emma Rosetta (Curtis) Landsberg.

She married Ralph “Ed” Longanecker June 16, 1948 in Kansas City, Kan. They moved to Edgerton, in 1956 and then to Gardner Lake in 1984.

Marcene attended Baker and KU and earned her undergraduate degree. She was a school teacher at Gardner Elementary for 20 years and sold real estate.

Marcene was a member of Community of Christ Church in Olathe. She will be missed by family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, daughter, Carol Marcene Hansel and brothers, Paul and Lewis Landsberg.

Marcene is survived by children: Christie Lynne, of Albuquerque, N.M., Clay and wife Kathy Longanecker, of Edgerton, Kan. and Curt and wife LouAnn Longanecker, of Baldwin City, Kan.; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren and sister, Bernice Andes, of Lenexa, Kan.
