Local scouts take to the river

Members of Boy Scout Troop 88 of Gardner, attended a canoeing campout in Lebanon, Mo., Aug. 8-10. The 23 boys enjoyed a 14-mile float on the Niangua River, stopping for a sack lunch and some swimming. In the evening, they enjoyed some fine Dutch oven cooking and a campfire with s’mores. Boy Scout Troop 88’s next outing will be a Horsemanship merit badge campout near Hillsdale Lake Sept. 12-14. Those interested in joining Boy Scouts, or wanting more information, please contact Scoutmaster James Martin at martin.scouts@gmail.com or stop by a troop meeting. Meetings are held every Tuesday at the First Presbyterian Church in Gardner from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
