Letter to ed: Get in the holiday spirit by helping others

It’s hard to miss the fact that it is the Holiday Season!  The recent snow added to the festive theme of the year.  As you are out and about, do think and appreciate the volunteers that work behind the scenes to assure some holiday happiness for the less fortunate members of our society.  Our community is fortunate to have many organizations who take a leadership role in sharing with others throughout the year.  However, the need is greater this year and with the present economy slump more sharing and aid is in our future.  And, every little bit counts!  It’s not always financial aid; help a neighbor with shoveling snow, run an errand for someone, tutor a child, drive someone to a doctor’s appointment, share a meal and be aware and listen to a less fortunate’s needs.  Be a part of these community organizations and join them.

New ideas and perspectives add strength to the community organizations.

One can only look at the enlightening “Christmas in the Park” and “Santa’s Workshop” to see what volunteers can do and the joy it brings!  To think, in the early 90’s the concept was only a sketch on a piece of paper and a dream for the community.  Join an organization and through your giving, you’ll be lifted yourself through sharing.

  1. A special Thank You to the Secret Santa that paid for my purchases last night at the Gardner Wal- Mart. And, said to forward the change to the charity of my choice. The change was given to the Salvation Army at the bell ringer’s station outside Gardner Wal-Mart.

Thank You again for a Christmas memory for life.
