Leon George Heincker, 85, of Spring Hill, Kan. passed away July 15, 2014 at Hoeger House, Olathe, Kan.

Leon was born May 12, 1929 in St. Louis, Mo. to Edward and Anna Mae (Jennings) Heincker. He grew up in the St. Louis area, graduating from Central High School.

He married Dolores M. Hill on June 16, 1951 in St. Louis, Mo.

Leon served in the U.S. Army from 1951-1953 during the Korean Conflict. He retired from McDonnell Douglas, now known as Boeing, as a material planner for 31 years. Leon and Dolores moved to Spring Hill in 2001 where he worked part-time for many years at Dollar General.

Leon attended College Church of the Nazarene, Olathe, Kan. He was an active member of the Cole-Smith American Legion Post No. 350 in Spring Hill. He enjoyed presenting a program on flag etiquette and the meaning of the Pledge of Allegiance to area school children. Leon enjoyed sports and vacationing with family. He was very much a family man and will be dearly missed.

He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings: Fred, Leonard and Janet.

Leon is survived by his wife Dolores; daughter, Saundra and husband Mike Blase, of St. Louis, Mo.; son, Dwight and wife Donna Heincker, of Spring Hill, Kan.; grandchildren: Kevin, Ryan, Thomas and Ethan and great-grandchildren: Theresa, Jessi, Logan and Levi.

Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., July 21, 2014 with military honors provided by the Spring Hill American Legion Post No. 350 at Bruce Funeral Home, 712 S. Webster, Spring Hill, KS (913)592-2244. Burial follows at 2:30 p.m. at Fort Scott National Cemetery, Fort Scott, Kan. Visitation will be held from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m., July 20, 2014 at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Spring Hill American Legion Cole-Smith Post No. 350 or College Church of the Nazarene, Olathe, Kan. Condolences may be left at www.brucefuneralhome.com.
