Baldwin High School rallied for 21, second-half points and turned back the Spring Hill High School Broncos 21-14 in Frontier League action at Baldwin last week.
Early on, the Spring Hill Broncos took control. SHHS’ Brad Smith put the Broncos up 7-0 with a 4-yard, first quarter touchdown run. Brandon Dofat added a 41-yard touchdown run in the second quarter as Spring Hill owned a 14-0 halftime lead.
But Baldwin scored a pair of touchdowns in the third quarter to tie the score.
BHS’ scoring came on a 5-yard, Joel Katzer touchdown run, and Garrett Burkhart’s 64-yard gallop to paydirt.
Baldwin’s final score came on a 25-yard pass from Katzer to Burkhart.
Despite the loss, SHHS’ Smith finished with 63-yards on 14 carries, while Dofat added 61 yards on just three totes. Senior quarterback Ryker Johnson had 30 yards on 15 carries.
Now 1-3, SHHS next faces De Soto High School on Friday night. Kick-off is at 7 p.m. at De Soto.
