Late rally sinks Blazers

Battling until the end, the Blazers varsity baseball team dropped a 11-10 decision at Shawnee Mission East, March 30.
The Blazers held a 9-8 lead in the bottom of the seventh inning but saw the Lancers rally for two runs for the win.
”We put ourselves in position for a win but just needed to close the deal,” said Coach Corey Schrack. “Overall, we are hitting and playing decent defense. The kids are playing pretty well.”
Despite the loss, top hitting performances came from Wally Nellor, Taylor Webb and Noah Tenove. Sharing pitching duties were Joe Sprague, Nellor, Brett Wolford and Jacob Means.
At Blue Valley March 29, the Blazers dropped a 2-0 decision. Nellor pitched a complete game, striking out six and helped his cause with a 3-3 performance at the plate.
Now 0-2, the Blazers hope to get on the winning track in competition against Bishop Miege April 2 and 4.
