Late Jag rally falls short

A furious fourth-quarter rally fell just short and the Pioneer Ridge seventh-grade boys varsity basketball team dropped a 33-31 decision to Paola in the fifth place game of the Frontier League tourney in Baldwin on Feb. 18.
Pioneer lost the opener at Wheatridge 42-36, Feb. 13. The Jags posted a 40-35 win versus Spring Hill in round two before bowing to the Panthers.
Versus Paola, Jared Highfill led the way with eight points and six rebounds. Jonas Pippitt added seven points; Conner Boyt, six; Nate Wagner and Dylan Mars, four; and Jake Zink, two points.
Pioneer closed the season 9-7 and placed sixth in league and the post-season tourney.
