The Pioneer Ridge Middle School eighth grade 400-meter relay team set a school record highlighting an impressive performance at the Eudora Relays last week.
The foursome of Lauren Highfill, Gracie Morehouse, Cierra Swait and Taylor Carpenter raced to gold in a record 400 time of 54.9 seconds.
Overall, PRMS posted 59 points to claim runnerup to Baldwin, 63. Eudora had 40 points for third.
“I was so proud of the effort,” said Coach Jeff Davidson. “The team continues to work hard in practice and show a lot of improvement.”
Highfill also anchored the medley gold medal team of Moorehouse, Swait, and Carpenter.
Taylor Nemecheck cleared 4-feet in the high jump for first, and Jayme Morris took first in the two mile in 14 minutes and 39 seconds. Kayla Haff took first in 400 meters.
Silver medals went to Highfill in the 100 meters. Other silver medals went to Sydney Smith in long jump, Natalie Hill in pole vault, Carpenter in the 100-meters, Haylei Bell in the 800-meter run, and the 1600 relay of Moorehouse, Lyla Phillips, Haff and Bell also took silver.
