The Lady Broncos posted a 2-1 record in competition at the Gardner Edgerton High School volleyball quadrangular, Sept. 15.
In round one, Spring Hill surprised Blue Valley Southwest winning in three games, 25-19, 19-25, 26-24.
“It was a big win for us,” said coach Alicia Von Stein. “Unfortunately, we were on an emotional high and didn’t play real well versus host Gardner Edgerton.”
Things proved a bit more difficult in round two versus GEHS as Spring Hill suffered a 14-25, 20-25 defeat.
“GEHS is too good a team to fall behind,” added Von Stein. “I was proud of how we battled back and made a game of it in the second set.”
In the finale, Spring Hill regrouped and beat Bonner Springs, 25-22, 25-13.
On the night, junior defensive specialist Meagan Crooks led the serving with five aces on 39 attempts.
Ashley Schoenhofer recorded nine blocks and added 16 kills.
