Clarissa Johnson won the 100 hurdles in a personal best 15.30 and teamed with Brittney Parks, Courtney Allen, and Cassie Wait to win the 400 relay in 50.82. She anchored the silver medal 1600 relay in 4:12. That foursome also included Parks, Wait, and Isabella Mullins. She showed her versatility with a second-place 800 meter finish in 2:23.2.
Another league title went to Wait who set a new school, stadium, and meet record in the pole vault with a first-place leap of 12’0″. McKenzie Smith took second clearing 10’0″ and Natalie Mitchell tied for third with a 9’6″ leap.
Dani Plank also looked sharp winning the javelin with a new league record throw of 135’9″. Ashlee Bilhimer took second with a throw of 126’9″ and Audrey Cisneros added fourth-place points with a 108’5″ effort.
Plank also added fifth-place points with a personal best shot put heave of 37’1 ½” and fifth place in the discus with a personal best toss of 108’1″. Hannah Miller took seventh in the event with a season best 102’4″.
Hannah Schneider took third in the shot put with a heave of 37’4 ½”.
Anna Gardiner added fifth-place points in the 3200 meters in 12:31.4 and Phoebe Janssen took sixth place with a high jump of 4’8″.
The 3200 relay of Mullins, McKenzie Scroggin, Dana Goodwin and Gardiner took fifth in 10:33.
Next up is a challenging 5A regional at Topeka-Seaman, May 21. The top four in each event earn a trip to State in Wichita, May 28-29.
