Lady Blazers rally past Blue Valley West

Scoring four runs in the sixth inning, the Lady Blazer softball team rallied for a 7-6 win against Blue Valley West April 4.
Providing key hits were Kiana Baderdeen, Kara Pine and Jackie Sylva. Haley McGuire was the winning pitcher.
“It was a great team win,” said Coach Joanne Calvin. “Everyone on the team contributed at the the plate. We rallied for the win and held Blue Valley scoreless in the 7th inning.”
It was a different story in the first game as West escaped with a 10-5 win. Despite the loss, Brittnee Willard collected four hits, including an inside the park home run. Other key hits came from Sylva, Sydney Anderson, and McGuire.
In JV action, the Blazers swept West by scores of 10-0 and 15-6.  Tara McIntyre was the winning pitcher in game one allowing just five hits in a complete game performance.
Offensively, GEHS got major contributions from Chelsea Gilner, Paige Bethune, Alyssa Koehler and Casey McCoun.
In game two, the Blazers trailed 9-6 in the 4th inning but exploded for 5 runs and went on to post a 15-6 win. Top offensive performances came from Cailyn Carter, Hailey Drawbaugh and Becca Gragg.
In the C team games, GEHS swept West by scores of 14-1 and 19-1. Tiffany Fields was the winning pitcher in game one. Hannah Hess was the winning pitcher in game two and received top offensive support from Hannah Flores.
