Lady Blazers qualify for state

Fourteen Lady Blazers will be making a trip to the 6A state track meet after posting qualifying marks at the Blue Valley Regional last week.
All told, Gardner Edgerton High School scored 100 points to finish second behind Olathe East High School, 163.
GEHS had four regional champions — Abby Buie in the javelin, Hannah Culbertson in discus, Lauren Strick in shot put, and Taylor Claybon in 300 hurdles.
Other regional medalists were Jill Starling and Abbey Bilhimer in the javelin; Abby Buie, Karli Smith, Kayla Burcham in the pole vault; Taylor Claybon in the 100- and 300-meter hurdles, Marissa Gray in the discus, Abbie Lane in the 300-meter hurdles, and Katie Groshong in the 3200 relay.
Also advancing were the 1600- and 3200-meter relays.
The state meet takes place May 30-31 at Cessna Stadium in Wichita.
