Lady Blazers begin tennis season at Aquinas

The Gardner Edgerton High School Lady Blazer junior varsity tennis squad showed marked improvement in its season opener at St. Thomas Aquinas High School last week.
“The girls battled hard and showed great improvement against some tough season competition,” said GEHS Coach Deb Osborn.
In doubles, Kenna Gillespie and Kristen Salazar posted a 1-1 record. After an 8-0 loss to Bishop Miege High School, the duo turned back Aquinas, 7-6, on a tiebreaker.
The duo of Amy Hurd and Emila Paz went 0-2 with losses to Miege and Blue Valley Northwest High School.
Faith Jolly and Emma Cranford lost a 6-1 verdict to Blue Valley Northwest and lost 6-3 to Aquinas.
