Scoring three first-half goals, the Gardner Edgerton High School girls varsity soccer squad blanked visiting Lansing, 3-0 on May 2.
Senior Emily Betthauser got GEHS on the board just nine minutes into the first half off a great assist by senior Molly Porter.
Senior Hunter Coleman put GEHS up 2-0 on an unassisted goal 20 minutes into the half and leading scorer Guro Midmageli closed the scoring just before halftime off another assist from Porter.
Meanwhile, senior captain Kristina Mitchell and Alyssa Mahanke anchored the defense. Senior goalie Heather Hollingshead recorded another shut out.
Things proved a bit more difficult in junior varsity action as GEHS dropped a 4-2 decision to Lansing.
After Lansing went up 2-0, GEHS went to work. Marissa Ward scored two goals and GEHS evened the score at 2-2 by halftime.
Unfortunately, GEHS was unable to hold Lansing and eventually dropped a 4-2 decision.
GEHS got back to action at home versus De Soto on May 8. Results were not available at press time.
