Lady ‘Blazers softball squad drops two games

Battling ‘til the end, the Lady ‘Blazer softball team dropped a home-opening double-header to Blue Valley West, April 7.
In the opener, GEHS lost by a 9-1 score. The nightcap saw GEHS lose a close 5-4 decision.
In game one, Shelby Plank went two-for-three at the plate. Alexis Pacheco stroked a triple and scored GEHS’ lone run on a sacrifice fly by Ashleigh Perry.
In game two, GEHS held a 4-0 lead through five innings only to see West rally for a 5-4 win.
Ashleigh Perry stroked a two-RBI double in the fifth inning scoring Pacheco and Jackie Sylva.
Plank collected two hits and Brittanee “Peanut” Willard turned in sparkling defensive play in right field.
GEHS hosts Blue Valley April 12 and then travels to Paola for a non-conference double-header, April 14.
