Kenneth M. Meyer

 

Kenneth M. Meyer, 76, of Gardner, passed away Jan. 18, 2013 at KC Hospice House.

Kenneth was born July 11, 1936 in Cambridge, Minn. to Melvin and Viola (Olson) Meyer.  He grew up in Minnesota where he graduated from high school in Cambridge. 

Kenneth served in the U S Army. 

He married Geraldine Brown on Nov. 8, 1960 in St. Paul, Minn.

For over 30 years, he worked in sales for various metal industries, retiring in 2001.  They moved to Gardner in 1996 from Prior Lake, Minn. 

Kenneth enjoyed hunting and the outdoors, and doing yard and wood work in the garage. He will be dearly missed by family and friends. 

He was preceded in death by his wife Geraldine in 2001, his parents and siblings, Don Meyer, Lorraine Searles, Delbert Meyer and Margie Chilman.

Kenneth is survived by his children, Jeff Meyer, of Chanute, Kan., Allen Meyer, of Overland Park, Kan., and Lisa Wheatley, of LaCygne, Kan.; special companion, Jean Locke, of Gardner; four grandchildren; siblings, Harriet Storm, of Hugo, Minn., June Stacy, of Coon Rapids, Minn., Shirley Osby, of Minneapolis, Minn. and Karen Everetts, of Duquette, Minn.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Jan. 25, 2013 at Bruce Funeral Home, Gardner, KS (913)856-7111. Burial follows at 2:30 p.m. at Leavenworth National Cemetery, Leavenworth, Kan. Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. before the service at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or KC Hospice House.
