Kenneth “Kenny” Allen Briscoe

Kenneth “Kenny” Allen Briscoe, 73, of Gardner, Kan. passed away March 6, 2014 at KC Hospice House.

Kenny was born June 12, 1940 in Kansas City, Mo. to Arthur Luther and Doris Pearl (Smith) Briscoe. He grew up in Rosedale, Kan. and graduated from Rosedale High School in 1958 where he was a drummer in the band.

Kenny married Judith Ann Hopkins on Sept. 9, 1961 in Kansas City, Mo. They lived in Rosedale until 2004 when they moved to Gardner.

Kenny worked for twenty two years as a Dispatcher for the Kansas City, Kan. Fire Dept., retiring in 2001. He was a former barber in Kansas City, Mo. and a wall covering expert.

Kenny was a member of Epworth United Methodist Church.

He enjoyed fishing, hunting, woodworking, dancing, golfing and telling jokes. Kenny had a great sense of humor and was a master joke teller and prankster. He was a recreational umpire for Kansas City, Kan. Softball. Kenny especially enjoyed his time with his morning coffee buddies. He was a friend to many and stranger to none. Kenny will be dearly missed by family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Maxine Cary.

Kenny is survived by his wife of 52 years, Judith; children: Robin and husband Joe Crawford, of Linwood, Kam., Ronald and wife Mary Briscoe, of Olathe, Kan. and Rachelle and husband Mike Buck, of Gardner, Kan.; eight grandchildren, five great grandchildren and two more on the way; siblings: Barbara Zumba, of San Diego, Calif., Richard Briscoe, of Lee’s Summit, Mo. and Roger Briscoe, of Overland Park, Kan.

Cremation. Memorial services will be held 11:30 a.m., March 15, 2014 at Bruce Funeral Home, Gardner, KS (913)856-7111. Visitation will be held at 10 a.m., prior to the service at the funeral home.
