Four inmates escaped from the Ottawa County Jail this morning, and
authorities are asking for help in apprehending three of the men. A fourth escapee is back in custody.
Santo Carrera-Morales, a convicted murderer; Eric James, convicted of aggravated burglary and kidnapping in Anderson County; and Drew Wade, convicted of attempted robbery and aggravated battery in Shawnee County; are at-large after escaping from the jail at approximately 5 a.m. this morning.
The Ottawa County Jail break is the second reported escape from a Kansas prison today. Kansas Department of Corrections officials
are also seeking the location of 59-year-old Gary Leslie Furthmyer, a child sex offender, after he escaped the Lansing Correctional Facility.
Authorities consider the fugitives to be armed and dangerous. Anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of Carrera-Morales, James or Wade is asked to call 911, or the Kansas Bureau of Investigation at (800)572-7463, or the Ellsworth Correctional Facility at (785)472-5501.
