Johnnie Lucille Cox

 

Johnnie Lucille Cox, 82, of Spring Hill, Kan., formerly of De Soto, Kan., passed away May 23, 2013 at LakeviewVillage, Lenexa.

 

Johnnie was born May 15, 1931 in Monette, Ark. to Walter McKinley and Violet Oveda (Swyres) West. She lived in St. Louis, Mo. before moving to the JohnsonCounty area.

 

She served as a Wave in the U.S. Navy during 1948 and 1949.  Johnnie worked as a hair dresser for 41 years in De Soto.

 

Johnnie married Frederick V. Cox March 23, 1965 in Miami, Okla.

 

Johnnie was a member of Hillsdale Presbyterian Church. She will be dearly missed by family and friends.

 

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Fredrick; sons, Wesley J. Cox and Dean Rhea; and sister, Bobbie Shrum.

 

Johnnie is survived by her children, Donna and Larry Eilenstine, of Edgerton, Kan., Dana Cline, of Kansas City, Mo., Dawn and Daniel Campbell, of Louisburg, Kan., Daniel and Madelyn Cox, of Spring Hill, Kan. and Dave Cox, of Pleasanton, Kan.; sibling Dr. Walter West, of St. Louis, Mo.; 16 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

 

Graveside services will be held 10 a.m., May 29, 2013 at PleasantonCemetery, Pleasanton, KS. Arrangements: Bruce Funeral Home, Spring Hill, KS (913)592-2244.
