JOCO to improve 215th Street

Johnson County Commissioners voted June 21 to spend $277,28.70 to for the reconstruction of 215th Street between Gardner and Waverly roads.
The contract for the work was awarded to Double D, doing business as the Dale Brothers.
The bid came in about $75,000 below the engineer’s estimate.
The scope of work will include widening 251th “to a standard width, providing adequate clear zones and improve the ditches and draining structures,” according to Mac Andrew, director of public works and infrastructure.
“This road ranked at the top of the chip and seal road priority list, so after the road is improved by this contract, county forces will chip and seal the road.”
The project is among those identified in the county’s Bridge, Culvert and Roads Capital improvement program.
Eight companies submitted bids for the work.
In other business, the board approved a $966, 156.50 contract with Manny Construction Company for 10 miles of overlays in various parts of unincorporated area.
The bid came in about $3,000 above the engineer’s estimate.
