JoCo Extension November Classes and Events

Johnson County K-State Research and Extension is offering a variety of classes this November. All classes will be held at the Extension office, located in the Sunset Drive Office Building, 11811 S. Nov. 4 — Get Financially Prepared: Take Steps Ahead of Disaster. Class will be held from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. In this course you will learn how to create household inventory, review insurance coverage, and how to prepare grab-and-go box. Location for this class is the Olathe Library/Indian Creek branch.
Nov. 5 — Vegetarian Cooking for all Ages. Class will be held from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Cost for this course is $15. In this course you will learn how to go partially meatless in your household.
Nov. 7— Pie Baking 101. Class will be held from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Cost for this course is $20. This is a hands-on course where you will learn how to bake pies.
Nov. 8 — Hoarding: the Impact of Compulsive Keepers. Class will be held from 10:30 a.m.to noon. Location for this class is the Corinth Library.
Nov. 12 and 19 — Falling Less in Kansas. Class will be held from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. During this course you will learn top four risk factors for falling. Location for this class is the Olathe Library/Indian Creek branch.
Nov. 13 — Know Your Credit. Class will be held from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. Location for this course is the Olathe Library/Indian Creek branch.
Nov. 14 — Cut the Clutter and Get Organized.  Class will be held from 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. Location for this class is the Olathe Library/Indian Creek branch.
Nov. 14 — Preserving the Harvest – Jam & Jellies. Class will be held from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. During this hands-on class you will learn how to safely make jams/jellies.
Nov. 15 — Cooking for One: Easy, Healthy and Inexpensive Meals. Class will be held from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. During this class we will demonstrate single serving recipes and share ideas for cooking for one. Class will be taught at the Antioch Library.
Nov. 16 — Kid’s-A-Cookin’: Entertaining Kid-Style. Class will be held from 9:30 a.m. to noon Cost for this course is $5. This is a hands-on class for children ages 7-12 featuring recipes for entertaining and how to plan and set the scene for a party.
