Jessie Jane Breitenstein, 96, of Wellsville, Kan, formerly of Gardner, passed away May 19 at Wellsville Retirement Community
Jessie was born June 23, 1919 in Oklahoma City, Okla to Russell and Ethel (Herrod) Utz. She grew up in Kansas City, Kan and Topeka and then graduated from Wyandotte High School in Kansas City. Jessie married Alfred L. Breitenstein December 30, 1939 in Kansas City, Kan. She moved to Gardner Lake in 1978. She worked as a bookkeeper in Kansas City, Kan with her sister. Jessie did a lot of hand work, such as knitting and crocheting. She was a member of the Divine Mercy Parish and Friday Friends in Gardner. She will be dearly missed by family and friends.

Jessie was preceded in death by her parents; husband Alfred in 1977 and siblings: Pauline Saxon, Naomi Signago and Emma Jean Shindler. She is survived by her children: Alfred Jr. and Sheila Breitenstein of Gardner, Kan, Nancy and Bill Sirridge of Basehor, Kan, Russell and Doris Breitenstein of Bentonville, Ark, Jane and Bob Wyckoff of Gardner, Kan and Francie and Bill Locke of Gardner, Kan; 16 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren and 6 great-great-grandchildren.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 am Tuesday, May 24, 2016 at Divine Mercy Catholic Church, 555 W Main, Gardner, Kan 66030. Burial 2:00 pm at Resurrection Catholic Cemetery, Lenexa, Kan. Visitation 9:30 am before the service at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to the Divine Mercy Building Fund or the Wellsville Retirement Community.
