James W. Ballard, Sr, 78, of Edgerton, Kan, passed away February 2, 2015 at Olathe Medical Center
James was born January 19, 1937 in Grove Springs, Mo. to Sarah Jane (Kincaid) and Harrison Streeter Ballard. He grew up in Grove Springs and Lebannon, Mo. James served in the US Army. James married Helen Marie Vaughn on July 5, 1958 in Greenfield, Mo. They lived in Springfield, moving to Kansas in 1962 and to Edgerton in 1982. James was a foreman for Moore Rubber Co in Shawnee for 32 years. He enjoyed woodworking, gardening, hunting and fishing. He will be dearly missed.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother and three sisters. James is survived by his wife Helen, of the home; children Deborah Theno and Tom and Victoria Shepherd and Donnie all of Bonner Springs, Carolyn Davolt and Bob of Wellsville, James W. Ballard, Jr, Derl Ballard and Kimberly, and Cassandra Ballard, all of Edgerton; 17 Grandchildren; 26 great grandchildren; sisters Mary Weaver of Grove Springs, MO and Fannie Buttram of Springfield, Mo; and brother Harry Ballard Jr. of Mt. Vernon, Mo.
Funeral Services will be 11:00 am Saturday, February 7, 2015 at Bruce Funeral Home, Gardner, 913-856-7111. Burial will follow at Edgerton Cemetery.
