Scoring early and often, the Pioneer Ridge Middle School grade varsity football team posted a 44-0 home win against Wheatridge Middle School last week.
Pioneer, 6-0, went up 14-0 in the first quarter thanks to a 1-yard Andrew Adams touchdown run and 11-yard Baylor Maxwell gallop to paydirt.
Second quarter touchdowns came on two Trenton Cochran scores. Cochran caught a 4-yard touchdown pass from Brody Marshall and rambled 60 yards for another score. Later, PRMS’ Matt Beyer added a 9-yard touchdown run.
Excellent up front blocking came from offensive linemen Gabe Mendez, Jake Steward, Jackson Curbow, Lucas Soza and Blake Burns.
Meanwhile, the defensive charge was led by Cochran and Gage Gulley.
“Our defense had some troubles early, but played much better in the second half,” said Coach Kevin Collins. “We still have room for improvement.”
The PRMS Jags hope to finish perfect. The squad takes on Baldwin Middle School at home this week.
