Jags remain perfect

The Pioneer Jags seventh grade varsity football team ran its record to 5-0 with a hard fought 18-8 home win over Paola on Sept. 25.
With the win, Pioneer gained momentum for its final two games with Eudora and rival Wheatridge. The team travels to Eudora Oct 2. For a 4 pm kickoff.
“Overall, I was pleased with the effort,”said Coach Jeff Davidson.  Our offensive line did a good job of blocking and we played solid defense.”
Pioneer opened with a nice 5 play drive capped by a Luke Laskowski TD run. Providing a key block on the run was offensive lineman Devlin Specht. Keegan Michael tacked on a second quarter TD and Pioneer owned 12-8 halftime lead.
“Devlin Specht did a nice job of blocking on the first scoring play,”added Davidson. Luke used his speed to get to the outside.”
Up 12-8 Pioneer sealed the win with a 55 yard fourth quarter score by Laskowski.
Offensively, Laskowski led the way  13 totes for 135 yards and 1 TD. Laskowski had 3 carries for 75 yards. Henry added three totes for 20  yards.
Defensively, Laskowsi recorded six tackles . Tucker Tribble,  Henry, and Michael had 4 tackles apiece.  Jacob James turned in a top performance on the  defensive li.
