Hughes competes at state golf tournament

Gardner Edgerton High School’s Jonathan Hughes ended his sophomore season on a high note, finishing 37th at the 5A state tournament May 23 in Newton.
Hughes shot a solid 40-39 at the Sand Creek Station Course. His score was 11 strokes better than his state effort as a freshman.
“Just a remarkable sophomore season for Jon,” Coach Scott Schaefer said. “He also placed 10th in the prestigious East Kansas League and is scheduled to compete in several events this summer. He is looking forward to representing the Blazer Blue the next two years.”
