Hearing set for Edgerton man accused of child rape

An Edgerton man charged with child rape, indecent liberties with a child and lewd and lascivious behavior will have a preliminary hearing in the Douglas County Courts on Thursday, April 21.
Prosecutors from the Douglas County District Attorney’s Office will present case evidence before a judge who will determine if there is probable cause for the defendant to stand trial.

Investigators have identified two 5-year-old victims. Prosecutors believe the defendant raped one of the children on two occasions.  They also believe the suspect engaged in two separate incidents of fondling and exposed himself to that child.  The D.A. alleges that the accused fondled the second child and exposed himself to that victim.

The 45-year-old was arrested on Feb. 5 and has remained in the Douglas County Jail with bond set at $150,000.

Due to the stigma attached to the crimes, The Gardner News will not reveal the suspect’s name in print unless he is convicted.
