Harold Edward Lucas, 68, of Overbrook, Kan. and formerly of Spring Hill, passed away April 26, 2012 at St. Luke’s Hospital, Kansas City, Mo.

Harold was born Nov. 17, 1943 in Kansas City, Mo. to George and Edith (Morrison) Lucas. He grew up in Spring Hill. After the death of his parents, he was raised by Aunt Alta Mae Harra and her husband Vern. He graduated from Spring Hill High School then attended Independence Kansas Community College.

Harold was a Master Sgt. in the U.S. Army National Guard from 1964 to 1970, serving in Vietnam.

He married Mary Rosanne McCain on Nov. 16, 1969 in Ocheltree, Kan. They moved to their Overbrook cattle farm in 2008.

Harold was employed by Delco Battery in Olathe, Kan. for 30 years. He was a member of the Spring Hill United Methodist Church and enjoyed farming, hunting and fishing. His retirement allowed him to travel and camp with his wife and his black labs. Harold never met a stranger. He really enjoyed people.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Harold is survived by his wife, Roseanne, of the home; son, Douglas Lucas, Denver, Colo.; one grandchild, Skyler; step-daughters Sheree Schmidt of Seattle, Wash. and Lisa Lynn Zerr of Portland, Ore.

Graveside service will be held at 2 p.m., May 1, 2012 at Spring Hill Cemetery, Spring Hill, KS. He will be in state on Monday, April 30, 2012 from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. at Bruce Funeral Home, 712 S Webster, Spring Hill, KS (913) 592-2244.
