This fall was another record breaking season for the Lady Blazer Golf team. GEHS joined the Sunflower League this year. This meant the ladies had three new courses/tournaments to attend at the varsity level. The girls had an outstanding season.
The season kicked off at Shawnee Golf and Country Club where varsity golfers shot a 374 as a team and junior, Mia Tovkach, shot a 78 and received 2nd place overall.
The home tournament in August was hosted at Prairie Highlands Golf Course. The team format was a two person best ball event. Winning the event, shooting a 39, was the team of Mia Tovkach and Haley Meyer. In second place at this event was the team of Hannah Trivitt and Shae Stamps shooting a 42. There were ten area schools that competed and all the Lady Blazers played well.
Junior Varsity started the year out at the largest 18 hole Junior Varsity event hosted at the Gardner Golf Course. Junior, Veronika Wojtas, shot a 129, Tara Land shot a 130, and Caitlin Miller shot a 131.

Lake Quivira
The first Sunflower event was held at Lake Quivira Country Club. Mia Tovkach led all scores at the event taking first place with a 77. This hot start gave her a seven stroke lead going into round two. The team shot a 385 and took third place overall.

Tomahawk
The Lady Blazers had two new players join the team this year. Seniors Tara Land and Caitlin Miller. They were a great inspiration to our team. These girls with junior Veronika Wojtas shot a 58 at Tomahawk in a JV scramble event.

Overland Park Golf Course
Sept. 20 the entire team played in an event at Overland Park Golf Course. This event hosted over 20 area high schools playing a variety of two person team events. At this event seniors are honored for their time and commitment to women’s golf. Playing well and shooting a 41 was the team of Mia Tovkach and Hannah Trivitt. They participated in the alternate shot event and received third place.

Wamego Country Club
In an effort to see some of the best competition in the state the Lady Blazers traveled to Wamego Country Club on Sept. 21. This was an outstanding course that played tough on a hot windy afternoon. Mia Tovkach shot an 80 and received second place. Junior, Shae Stamps had a personal best score of 87. As a team the girls shot a 382.

Smileys
The new seniors had much improved 18 hole scores at Smileys on Sept. 26. Tara Land shot a 94, and Caitlin Miller shot a 101 to include her first birdie.
The Lady Blazers played the Sunflower leg two event at Eagle Bend in Lawrence. This event had over 20 area schools and we had a season low team score on this day of a 355. On the day Mia Tovkach shot a season best 72 and was awarded 3rd place out of 124 golfers. Senior, Hannah Trivitt, shot a career best 84, Shae Stamps shot a 98, Taylor Hill shot a 101, and Haley Meyer shot a 117.
