GEHS freshmen win streak snapped by Miege

Hopes of an undefeated season come to an end for the Blazer freshman football team with a 28-22 loss at Bishop Miege, Sept. 24.
GEHS, 3-1, held a slim 8-6 halftime lead, but surrendered 20 second-half points and dropped a sit point decision.
GEHS scored first on a 44 yard touchdown pass from quarterback Griffin Johns to Zach Bass. Jonas Pippitt added a successful 2 point conversion run.
The Blazers added a third quarter score on a 30 yard Hunter Skeens touchdown run. Skeens also added a successful two point conversion run.
Final scoring came on an 80 yard touchdown pass from Johns to Skeens.
Offensively, Skeens led the way with 83 yards on 11 totes while Johns added 51 yards on just 2 carries. Pippitt had 13 yards on three rushes.
Through the air, Johns connected on 6 of 13 passes for 173 yards and two touchdowns.
His favorite target was Skeens who hauled in two catches for 87 yards. Bass added 79 receiving yards.
Defensively, Bass, Michael Kittleson and Skeens had interceptions.
Sam Stranathan and Dylan Watts recorded sacks.
The Blazers hope to set back on the winning track Oct. 3 at Blue Valley West Kickoff is set for 4:30 p.m.
