The Kansas City Chiefs named Gardner Edgerton High School Football Coach Marvin Diener Kansas High School Coach of the Week for the week ending Sept. 17.

Marvin Diener

It’s the first week of the Chief’s weekly recognition program. Former Kansas City Chiefs Linebacker and team Director of Special Events, Gary Spani, made a special presentation to honor Diener. Diener received a congratulatory football autographed by Chiefs Head Coach Todd Haley and is now a finalist for the Chiefs’ Kansas Coach of the Year Award. The winner will be selected through internet polling on www.kcchiefs.com at the end of the high school football season.

Diener’s accolade includes a $500 grant for GEHS.

The 2010 High School Coach of the Week program, a joint initiative of the Chiefs and the National Football League, is designed to recognize and reward Kansas City-area high school coachers for superior performance.
