Armed standoff comes to an end

Shane Tucker, a 26-year-old Gardner man, is in custody following a five-hour standoff at a townhouse in the 700 block of East Lincoln Lane.
According to Ilena Spalding, public information officer for the Gardner Police Department, officers were called to the residence at 12:45 a.m. on a domestic disturbance.
When officers arrived, they discovered suspect armed with knives.
The suspect went back inside the home and and shots were fired from inside the residence.
A female escaped the townhouse and was taken to a local hospital for treatment of minor injuries.
Negotiators from the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office established contact with the suspect and attempted to talk him out of the building.
The suspect later released an 11-month-old male infant to police. The child was examined by medics and was found to be in good condition.
Officers tasered the suspect and took him into custody at about 5:45 a.m.
He faces charges of aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer and domestic battery.
Several persons were evacuated from the Lincoln Lane Townhouses during the standoff.
Other agencies assisting in the operation included the Lenexa, Olathe, Merriam, Mission, Shawnee and Spring Hill police departments.
