Gardner Edgerton High School seniors Natalie Morerod and Kyle Wait were recently named to the First Team (Kansas City Star) all-Metro track team.
Morerod and Wait were two of 10 ‘Blazers named to either the first, second or honorable mention team.
Morerod was the Kansas 5A champion in the 300 meter hurdles with a time of 44:07. She also finished second in the 400 at state with a time of 58.56. She was the Frontier and regional champion in both races. Her efforts helped the Lady Blazers to their first ever state 5A title.
Other Lady Blazers on the team were Clarissa Johnson, 800 meters, honorable mention; Cassie Wait, pole vault, second team; Jalisa Brice, triple jump, honorable mention; Dani Plank, javelin, second team; and Ashlee Bilhimer, javelin, honorable mention.
On the boys’ side, Wait won the 5A pole vault with a 15’6″ clearance. He was also the Frontier League champion.
Junior Casey Bowen earned honorable mention in the same event.
