Gardner Drillers 2nd at Summer Showcase tournament

The Gardner Drillers 14 and under B softball squad recently brought back second place honors from the summer showcase tournament at Olathe’s Lone Elm park.    “This was our best showing of the summer, said coach Kent Mcintire. “We did not lose a game in the double elimination bracket and played well in the championship game.”
After a standout season in 2012, in the 12B division, the Drillers moved to 14B in 2013. The team found itself in the younger side of the division and struggled.Despite the struggles, the team posted an overall 28-26-1.
The team also played in the OGSA league in the highest 14 league division and posted a 6-5-1 record.
The team played in eight tournaments in April through July, posting a 22-21 record.
Playing for the Drillers were Regan Smith, Spring Hill; Maddie Nieman  Olathe: Karsen Ashby , Shawnee; Mikala Galvin, Gardner; Skylar See, Wellsville; Kennedy Meyers, Gardner; Hannah Pemberton, Wellsville; Sydney Deitz, Gardner; Katee Johnson, Paola; Sierra Sanderson, Spring Hill, Malibu Mcintire, Gardner.
Christian Ables, Olathe, is not pictured.
Coaches include Kent Mcintire and Kaitlin Wilmoth of Gardner, and Kerry Smith and Mark Sanderson from Spring Hill.
