The Gardner Area Chamber of Commerce board of directors hired a new executive director last week.
Jason Camis comes to Gardner from the Paola Chamber of Commerce, where he worked in a similar role for the past three years.
During his time in Paola, the chamber realized a 20 percent increase in membership, and led the implementation of numerous new programs and services.
According to a press release, Camis is a strong advocate for the business community and adept at utilizing technology to connect businesses with the community.
He was recently elected to the board of the Chamber of Commerce Executives of Kansas (CCEKS) and will complete his certification from the Institute for Organization Management (IOM) in 2015.
In addition to his experience in the chamber industry, Camis has several years of experience leading nonprofit organizations and has been both a small-business owner and co-founder of a technology company. Originally from Detroit, he has a master’s degree in tourism and urban studies from Michigan State University and currently lives with his wife and two young daughters on a small farm in Ottawa.
