Former GEHS thrower hits record toss for KSU

Former Gardner Edgerton High School standout Danie Plank is making her mark as a member of the Kansas State University track team.
Plank, a freshman, registered one of the best javelin throws in Kansas State history with a gold medal effort of 167 feet, 4-inches at the Jim Click Shootout in Tucson, Ariz., last weekend.
She placed first in a field of seven and is now number four all-time in the event’s top ten. She was the only one to clear 50 meters, and her mark is the best by a Wildcat since Ali Pistora’s 170-feet, 11-inch throw in 2011 at the University of Kansas Relays.
