Festival on the Trails Chili Cookoff winners

Press release by Peggy Velasquez

The Festival on the Trails celebrates the unique history of Gardner, Kan., where the Santa Fe, Oregon and California trails met and then separated to the Old West. In a true “shootout,” there was a three-way tie for first place, with first-time CASI cook Chris Fox of Gardner winning the tie-breaker. A torrential rain and strong winds didn’t dampen the cooks’ spirits as they held on to their canopies and stoves and continued to cook.
