Near the conclusion of the February 21, 2011 City Council meeting, Councilman Steve Hale asked about the process the city would be using to find City Administrator Fairburn’s successor. Mayor Drovetta said the position would be advertised via the International City/County Manager’s Association and that a recruiting company could be chosen to manage the hiring process. Applicant interviews and final selection will be made by the reconstituted Governing Body after the Spring 2011 General Election. Three newly elected city council members will be sworn in and seated at the April 18 council meeting. The Mayor hopes to have the new Administrator selected by July 1, 2011.

Following an Executive Session during the March 7, 2011 City Council meeting, council members voted unanimously to make current Assistant City Administrator Melissa Mundt the Interim Gardner City Administrator.
