An assembly was held at Edgerton Elementary School, March 28, to dedicate two new indoor recess carts, in memory of long-time teacher’s aide and recess supervisor, Joyce Higginbotham, who passed away on Feb. 23.
Members of Higginbotham’s family were present at the dedication ceremony. Each cart has a small plaque on it to honor her. The school and the family had received donations from the public the last few weeks to purchase the recess carts, and materials to go in them, to be used for indoor recess by students at the school.
Higginbotham’s daughter, Susie Hann, was speaking for the entire family when she commented, “we want to thank everyone who donated in honor of our mother. This is a gift that will keep on giving.”
Although some materials have been purchased already, Principal Nancy Woolery said. More items are needed for the carts. Anyone interested in donating can stop by the school, or send a check to the school, payable to Edgerton Elementary.
