Eight Blazers qualified for the state 6A wrestling meet in Wichita Feb 26-27. Their efforts helped GEHS place fourth in the Olathe East regional. Submitted photo

Eight Blazer wrestlers punched their ticket to State in Wichita with qualifying performances at the Olathe East 6A Regional meet last week.
Leading the way was senior Dustin Carstens who captured gold in the 182 pound division with a 5-4 win over number four ranked Austin Lasswell of Olathe East.
Drake Taysom once again made the finals, but was beaten by number one ranked Jace Koelzer of Olathe South.
Senior Edrick Rouse returned to the finals and despite losing 9-0 to Chase Miller of Olathe North, he qualified for his first State meet.
Placing third and becoming State qualifiers was sophomore Conner Greig at 145 pounds, senior Justin Sikes at 195 pounds, and senior Andrew Sprague at 220 pounds.

Placing fourth and qualifying was sophomore Jensen McDermott at 132 pounds, and senior Jacob Bonham at 126 pounds.
GEHS heads to the State meet in Wichita, February 26-27.
“These eight men will represent GEHS at state with the hopes of becoming a state champion,” said Coach Jeremy Williams.
