Edna Marie “Susie” Cordell, 98, of Gardner, Kan. passed away Nov. 11, 2012 at Meadowbrook Rehab. Hospital.
Susie was born June 19, 1914 in Gardner, to Bishop Galen and Sibyl Amanda (McKasson) Hayden. She was a life-long Gardner resident.  Her home was the original Gardner school house.
Susie graduated from Gardner High School in 1932. She married Eugene Lee “Gene” Cordell on June 10, 1939 in Edgerton, Kan.
Susie was a homemaker who also worked in Gardner for ten years at Everett Lewis Drug Store, eight years for Triplett/Bond Pharmacy and also the cleaners on Main Street.
She was a member of Gardner First Presbyterian Church, Gardner Eastern Star, a former Cub Scout Den Mother and an avid KU fan. Susie was a seamstress and loved to iron. She always told it like it was and there was only one Susie. She will be dearly missed.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Gene in 1996; son, Dean in 2005 and brother, John Hayden.
Susie is survived by her sons, Steve Cordell, of Gardner, Charles and wife Carla Cordell, of Basehor, Kan.; daughter-in-law, Ruth Cordell, of Flower Mound, Texas; six grandchildren, Tasha, Jason, Stephen, Robert, Jessica and Ethan and great-granddaughter, Amaya.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m., Nov. 15, 2012 at Bruce Funeral Home, Gardner, KS (913)856-7111. Burial follows at Gardner Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., Nov. 14, 2012 at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Crossroads Hospice.  Condolences may be left at www.brucefuneralhome.com
