The unanimous approval of an agreement between the city of Edgerton and the Southwest Johnson County Economic Development Corporation (SWJCEDC) was the highlight of the Oct. 10 Edgerton City Council meeting.
The council’s approval of the contract between the city and the SWJCEDC continues the economic development corporation’s services to the city of Edgerton from Jan. 1, 2014 through Dec. 31, 2014.
The SWJCEDC has provided its services to the city for the past 20 years.
Tom Riederer, president of SWJCEDC, was present at the council meeting to discuss the agreement and to answer any questions the mayor or council may have had.
As part of the contract, the SWJCEDC will provide marketing and business recruitment to the city. The contract also specifies that the SWJCEDC will foster existing business relationships and work on development proposals.
The city will pay the SWJCEDC $25,000 for its services in 2014, the same amount it paid for services from the corporation in 2013.
