The Edgerton Planning Commission approved the rezoning of a property at 306 W. Eighth St. from C-1 general commercial to R-1 single family on Oct. 9.
The commission will recommend the rezoning to the city council for final approval.
The property, owned by Eric and Heidi Wiseman, consists of a single family home and a hair salon.
Heidi Wiseman is a city council member.
“Rezoning this property back to R-1 would be appropriate as commercial development has not increased within the area; adjoining and neighboring properties are of single family residences,” Mike Mabrey, city superintendent, told planning commissioners.
Mabrey added that the rezoning would not affect the city’s comprehensive plan nor future land use plans.
Mabrey said 19 neighboring properties were to be notified of the rezoning by the applicants.
