The fourth session of Edgerton’s Intermodal 101 was held on Sept. 30, at Edgerton Elementary School.
The session focused on transportation and infrastructure. Edgerton Mayor Donald Roberts and city administrator Beth Linn each spoke to the audience on these matters.
Mayor Roberts expressed his gratitude to the crowd for attending the informational sessions and also publicly announced that the BNSF Intermodal Facility and Logistics Park Kansas City(LPKC) officially opened for business earlier that day. He also discussed the roads around the facility, including the diverging diamond interchange at the intersection of Interstate 35 and Homestead Lane, which opened last weekend. This type of interchange is the first of its kind in the state of Kansas, and was originally developed in Europe.
Linn presented to the audience the results of a study done to determine the long-term effects of the Intermodal project on the community of Edgerton.
