Financial statements, the approval of a resolution and a discussion regarding a proposed billboard near the Homestead interchange were highlights of the Edgerton City Council meeting on June 13.
Mize Houser, auditor, presented the 2012 Audit of Financial statements which was approved by the city council.
The council tabled the consideration of a lighted billboard at 20080 Homestead Lane. This issue had been discussed at previous council and planning commission meetings. The issue was tabled so the billboard applicant can provide a line-of-sight drawing to the council. This should allow the governing body to get a better idea of the height of the billboard in relation to Interstate 35.
The council also approved a resolution allowing the partial assignment of a resolution of intent for property tax abatement purposes. This would allow for the construction of an approximately 323,000 square-foot warehouse and distribution facility near the BNSF Intermodal project. This resolution also assigns $20 million for the purpose of construction of the warehouse and distribution facility.
The council also announced information regarding the Edgerton’s 3rd of July celebration at Martin Creek Park. A community picnic will precede the fireworks display which will begin between 9:45 and 10 p.m., weather permitting. The picnic is set to start at 7 p.m.
The next regularly scheduled meeting of the Edgerton City Council will be at 7 p.m. on June 27 at city hall.
