District seeks input for naming new schools

School officials are seeking suggestions in naming the newest Gardner-Edgerton School District elementary and middle schools.
The district has set up two email addresses for suggestions. Officials will compile the suggestions and principles, staff, students and parents will narrow pare down the lists for presentation to the district’s planning committee on Feb. 26. The committee will recommend two or three different names to the school board on March 11.
According to board policy, new school names shall be descriptive of the geographical area in which the school is located and shall not be representative of a single group, individual or subdivision.
Suggestions for the new elementary school can be submitted to NametheNewElementary@usd231.com. Suggestions for the new middle school can be sent to NametheNewMiddleSchool@usd231.com.
Officials ask that submissions include a reason for the suggestion and the name of the person making the recommendation.
