The Gardner Edgerton School Board hired Myrna Morrison as interim business and finance director on May 7.
Superintendent Bill Gilhaus said Morrison’s contract is on a “week-to-week” basis as the district seeks a permanent business and finance director.
She will be paid a consultant’s fee of $70 per hour on an as-needed basis.
Morrison’s career in school finance spans 35 years, and she is the former finance director for the Spring Hill School District.
She has also worked as a financial consultant for other school districts.
The board also formalized former Business and Finance Director Eric Hansen’s departure by approving a list of new hires, retirements, resignations and terminations.
The circumstances surrounding Hansen’s departure unknown, as his name was listed under a header that read, “Non Certified Professionals Retirements/Resignations/Terminations.”
Hansen had been with the district for 15 years.
District officials have been tight-lipped about Hansen’s situation, but confirmed in mid-April he was no longer employed by the district.
School officials have only said that it was an “ongoing personnel issue” that could not be discussed.
Hansen could not be reached for comment.
