Authorities have located a suspect they believe was involved in a hit-and-run accident Feb. 18 in Gardner.
The accident happened about 2:20 a.m. on Interstate 35 near Gardner Road.
According to Tom Erickson, public information officer for the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office, a vehicle believed to be a pickup truck struck the back of a 2002 Prius in the southbound lanes of I-35.
Erickson said the driver of the pickup fled the scene.
The driver of the Prius was extricated from the vehicle and was taken to a hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
“She was alert and talking to our officers that night,” Erickson said.
Erickson said investigators were able to identify the vehicle that fled as a 2010 or 2011 Chevy Silverado from parts left at the scene.
The alleged hit-and-run driver was then located and identified.
“One of our detectives talked to him,” Erickson said.
The suspect’s name has not been released and no charges have yet been filed.
